One calendar, not two competing routines

Make your plan fit the week you actually have.

Meals and workouts can be organised together without turning every evening into a project. Start with your real calendar and leave space for changes.

1. Put fixed commitments in first

Start with work, travel, caring responsibilities and meals already arranged elsewhere. Mark evenings when you will be home late or have little time to cook.

For a couple, compare the parts of the calendar that affect shared meals. You do not need identical workouts or to share private progress information to coordinate dinner.

2. Choose realistic training windows

Place the sessions from your suitable training plan in windows you can realistically protect. Account for travel, setup and the equipment available—not just the session itself.

This is a scheduling method, not a recommendation for exercise type, frequency or intensity. Follow your own appropriate plan and seek qualified guidance where needed.

3. Match cooking effort to the evening

Check the recipe method and total preparation/cooking time before assigning it to a busy evening. A quick meal on a late-work night may fit better than a recipe with several stages.

Keep each person’s quantities clear for shared dinners. Follow food-safety and storage instructions if you prepare anything in advance; do not assume all recipes can be stored or reheated in the same way.

A fictional week, without an all-or-nothing rule

Monday: a late finish, so choose a suitable shorter-preparation dinner. Tuesday: a planned workout in an available window, with dinner already decided. Wednesday: separate evening commitments, so do not buy ingredients for a shared dinner you will not eat.

Thursday: a shared meal with individual portions. Friday: leave room for the evening you actually expect. At the weekend, review the next calendar and shopping list. These are examples of organisation—not a complete meal or exercise plan.

4. Review what fitted before planning again

Notice which meals you cooked, which training windows worked and where the calendar was unrealistic. One disrupted day is information, not a reason to discard the whole routine.

MyPocketPT brings planned meals, shopping and personal workouts into one place. Available check-ins give the next planning cycle more context. Personalisation is not a guarantee of a particular fitness or weight result.

A few useful answers

Before you get started.

Do my partner and I need to exercise together?

No. Each adult can have a personal training plan while coordinating suitable shared dinners and shopping.

Does this tell me how many workouts to do?

No. It helps you organise an appropriate plan around your calendar. Training needs and suitability vary between people.

Can I use the routine without the app?

Yes. A calendar and a written shopping list are enough to use this planning approach. MyPocketPT brings those planning jobs into one connected membership.
